What
We Do
|
|
The Pulmonary Rehab program is actually the blending of
various health specialties to meet the individual needs of every client.
We start the process of maximizing the clients functional ability, by
completing a thorough assessment of his/her current physical, emotional,
social and nutritional state. This allows the professional staff to
develop an individualized program to meet the identified needs.
|
|
Physical reconditioning and educational retraining are the
foundation of this process. Physical reconditioning involves the use of various
exercise machines to help recondition the body. Past clients in rehab have
increased the distance walked by an average of 400 feet. Each client
receives an individualized program to help maximize results. |

|
|

|
Education also plays a significant role in the rehab process. Much
improvement in breathing can be achieved by relearning the proper way to
breath. A specialized hand-held machine is used to strengthen the muscle
used for breathing and to help reinforce a proper breathing technique.
Dietary education, provided by a registered dietitian, plays a vital role in
the rehab process, as well as classes provided by a licensed social worker,
to meet each clients emotional needs. |
With a lot of encouragement and inspiration mixed with determination it
is amazing what can be done to improve the quality of life for clients with
lung disease.
