Event Monitoring

What is an event monitor?

An event monitor is a painless way to record your heart beat activity when you feel an irregular heart beat or experience a symptom.

     How long is it worn?

The event monitor is worn from 2 to 4 weeks. Your physician will determine the length of time that you will need to wear the monitor. Your monitor may be removed sooner than 2 to 4 weeks, if it can be determined where your symptoms are coming.

What does the event monitor look like?

The event monitor is the size of credit card, connected to 2 patches, which are placed on your chest. These patches should be removed while you shower or take a bath. Do not get the event monitor wet! You will be given a supply of patches to last for the duration of the testing period.

       How do I transmit events?

You will be given a phone number to call after your event monitor has recorded an event. Call the number and follow the instructions of the Registered Nurse in order to transmit your event over the phone lines. A nurse and/or a physician will review your heart tracing and provide follow-up instructions.
