Exercise Arterial Segmental

What is an exercise arterial segmental?

The exercise arterial segmental, is a test used to evaluate the circulation in your feet after you exercise, which involves you walking on a treadmill. A blood pressure cuff will be placed around both ankles and both arms. Before you exercise, your blood pressure will be recorded where the cuffs are located. The cuffs will then be removed and you will exercise on the treadmill. Immediately following the exercise, the blood pressure cuffs will be reapplied and your blood pressure will be recorded for the next five minutes. Based on the results of this test, further testing may be ordered to locate the exact area where the blockage may be.

Any special preparation?

There are not any special preparations. However, you will need to wear comfortable clothes to exercise in. The test will take approximately 45 minutes.
