Cambridge, Ohio - Staff from Southeastern Med recently attended a conference hosted by the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) in Washington, D.C. from April 5-8.
During the 4-day conference, multiple staff members from Southeastern Med presented information about cancer research. Dr. Michael Sarap spoke about teambuilding and how highly functional teams operate in a successful cancer program. Some of the highlights from his presentation included the role of emotional intelligence in the workplace and the value of creativity and innovation when driving success.
Katelyn Miller and Becky Wheeler presented information during the poster exhibit. Their poster focused on how central cancer registry data is used to impact public health and received third place among all the posters in their category.
The goal of the conference was to educate registrars with current and updated cancer research. A highlight for at this year’s event was the Walk on Capitol Hill, when select NCRA members were able to meet with elected officials to discuss the value of cancer registries.
