Emergency medicine is an unpredictable specialty, so our nurses have to be prepared for anything. Our emergency nursing staff includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists, emergency room technicians, and patient care assistants.
A specially trained nurse triages all patients when they arrive, and our emergency medical service / trauma coordinator works closely with EMS to coordinate patient care for those arriving by ambulance.
All registered nurses in our Emergency Department are certified in advanced cardiac life support and are retrained every two years. All RNs, LPNs, RTs and PCAs have demonstrated proficiency as a life support team member and maintain their certification in basic trauma life support. In addition, many of our emergency nurses have completed their trauma nurse core curriculum (TNCC), emergency pediatric nursing course (ENPC), and PALS.
We also encourage certification in emergency nursing.
