November 2003Tips
for staying healthy and fend off flu and cold germs this winter… ü
Get enough Rest
- Most of us need 7-8 hours of sound sleep every day to revitalize immunity. Sleep can help restore the disease-fighting forces in your
body to energetic levels. ü
Get Moving - Moderate,
nonstop exercise 3-5 times weekly may build long-term immune power by
increasing blood cells that defend against tumors and viruses. ü
Get at least 5 a day - Servings
of fruits and veggies, that is. They
have nutrients essential to immunity. Avoid
skipping meals. ü
Get off tobacco - Smokers
are susceptible to frequent colds, which can develop into serious illnesses,
such as bronchitis or pneumonia. ü
Get lathered up - Wash
your hands often and completely – scrub for 25 seconds with warm water and
lots of soapy lather; thoroughly rinse and dry well. ü Get a flu shot - A vaccination every fall to fight major flu viruses is now recommended for everyone. Flu season is approaching…
Each year over 36,000 people in the U.S. die because of the flu.
More people die from flu than any other vaccine-preventable disease.
Influenza puts about 114,000 people in the hospital each year in the U.S.
Influenza can be eliminated or weakened by getting the flu vaccine. The
flu season begins in October and continues through April. Getting a flu
vaccination yourself can help protect your family members.
For your
convenience, immunizations may be administered at your site or at our new
Brick Church Road facility. We
will accommodate all shifts. The cost of the vaccine is $14.50 per employee. For
more information or to schedule your company’s flu vaccines, please contact
Kim at (740) 439-8714 or Michele at (740) 439-8773. Lunch
